Beginning in February of each year, the Stokes County Arts Council sponsors a series of professional performances during the winter season at venues throughout Stokes County. Stay warm with a delicious beverage (coffee or tea) and dessert and enjoy the performance. Admission.

Monthly Gallery Exhibits in the Apple Gallery
The Stokes County Arts Council hosts monthly gallery exhibits featuring Stokes County artists. A reception is held in honor of the artist the last Friday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Apple Gallery, Stokes County Arts Council, 500 N. Main Street, Danbury, North Carolina. Musical entertainment is occasionally provided. The reception is FREE and open to the pubic.

Exhibits in the Hanging Rock Visitor’s Center Auditorium
The Stokes County Arts Council has partnered with Hanging Rock State Park to showcase artists in the auditorium gallery in the visitor’s center. Exhibits are on display for two months. The opening reception dates vary. The show is FREE and open to the public seven days a week from 9am – 4:45pm. The Visitor’s Center is located at 1790 Hanging Rock Park Road in Danbury.

Reach the Peaks

Reach the Peaks is a strenuous 10.1 mile hiking and trail running challenge that will test participants to summit 5 peaks of Hanging Rock State Park, including Hanging Rock, Wolf Rock, House Rock, Cook’s Wall, and Moore’s Knob.

NEW in 2020, Reach the Peaks will be held over three days, September 25-27, allowing participants to select which day to complete the challenge on their own time in accordance with social distancing regulations. Coordinated by the Stokes County Arts Council and Hanging Rock State Park. Registration in advance is REQUIRED. Registration and complete event information is available at: #reachthepeaks

Summer Art Camps
The Stokes County Arts Council sponsors dance, visual and performing art camps for Stokes County students ages 7-18 during the summer. Classes are held at Mt. Olive Elementary and West Stokes High School. The Arts Council is grateful to Stokes County Public Schools for letting us use their facilities.

We challenge you to take the PLUNGE into the Lake with us on New Year’s Day at Hanging Rock State Park. Ages 14 and up. If under 18 must have consent of parent or guardian. Spectators Welcome! Registration includes an exclusive Event Item, unlimited warm food (Chili, Chicken Stew, Hot Dogs, Hot Cocoa), & Prize for best plunge attire.

Military Performances
Performances are held throughout the year in King and Walnut Cove honoring our country’s service men and women. These events may be held during Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. FREE to the public.
