Ceramic Studio/Classroom
The Arts Place of Stokes provides professional instruction in visual / performance and ceramic arts, with two dedicated areas for education.
The Ceramic Studio includes thirteen potter’s wheels, slab roller and electric kiln, and plenty of table room for sculpture, hand building, glazing, and decorating. Classes are offered throughout the year for both adult and children, including three weeks of Summer Pottery Camps for Kids. The studio is also available for rental. The Ceramic Studio supports the Stokes County Arts Council Stokes Soup in a Bowl hunger outreach event held annually in November, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The Classroom provides a multi-use area with tables and chairs for instruction in visual, fiber, and performance arts, as well as space for small meetings. Previous classes have included barn quilt painting, knitting, stain glass, JAM (Junior Appalachian Musician), and Summer Art Camps for Kids.
For information on participating as a ceramic, visual or performing arts instructor, taking a class, or renting the studios for personal use, contact Arts Place Manager Sonya Godwin at 336 593-3799 or via email at sonya@artsplaceofstokes.org
