Gypsy Hollingsworth Fiber Arts

The Gypsy Hollingsworth Fiber Arts Program launched in March 2025 and honors its namesake, Gypsy, who was an ardent supporter of the arts in Stokes County and a founding member of Stokes County Arts Council. She explored her own creative calling as a weaver, natural dyer, and painter and was often inspired by her reverence for the natural world.

We offer a local fiber arts community as well as classes in a variety of fiber arts techniques. Popular classes thus far have been in Twining, Indigo Shibori dyeing, Rug Hooking, Wet Felting, and Hand Stitching. We look forward to expanding our offerings to include spinning, floor loom weaving, and more. Class proposals welcome.

We gather at The Arts Place in the performance space every Saturday morning from 10:00am - 12:00pm for WIPS (Works in Progress). This is our weekly fiber arts gathering and attendees bring whatever they are currently working on. Knitting, crochet, stitching, and spinning are frequently seen, and sometimes weaving, felting, and other crafts, too. All skill levels are welcome.

We also gather on Thursdays in the downstairs classroom for Fiber Arts Thursdays on Thursdays from 1:00pm - 5:00pm. Participants bring their own materials and spread out among multiple work tables to work on personal fiber arts projects. Materials are not provided, but use of our looms and some equipment is available.
