11/16 – 12/31 Garnet Goldman Exhibit

The Stokes County Arts Council is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibit of original art by Garnet Goldman in the Apple Gallery. A meet and greet is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 2:00pm – 3:30pm during the Christmas in Danbury event at the Stokes County Arts Council 500 Main Street Danbury, NC.
Goldman is a self-taught artist. All of the works in the exhibit are hand-cut, layered papers. Goldman explained that, “the papercut pieces convey a mythological and celestial atmosphere. Their intricate designs and vibrant colors elicit feelings of wonder and reverence, as if looking into an enchanting world. The strong focus on symmetry and fluid motion reinforces this magical quality.”
Goldman worked with acrylics for years and then found herself drawn to the idea of building images through subtraction rather than application. Paper cutting offered a way to continue working with layers and composition—only with a blade instead of a brush. Apart from paper cutting, Goldman also enjoys making handmade books, sewing, embroidering, and gardening.
Goldman’s works have been featured in several shows and exhibits including: Hampton House Art and Framing, 2005-2008; Solo exhibition at the Eberson Fine Arts Center, Salem Collage, 2019; Solo show at Camino Bakery, 2021; Winston-Salem Journal Feature, 2021; SECCA Juried Maker’s Market 2023-2025; Exhibition at Chad’s Chai, 2023; and Exhibition at Visual Index, 2023-present.
This exhibit will be on display November 16-December 31, 2025, the Apple Gallery. The Stokes County Arts Council is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm, Saturday, 10:00a.m. – 6:00p.m. and Sunday 12:00pm – 6:00pm.
