The Arts Place of Stokes offers a variety of fun and educational summer camps where students can learn a variety of new skillsets. These camps will engage and nurture student's creativity.

Register before May 31st 5:00pm and receive a $5 discount for each camp registration!
Limited number of Summer Camp Scholarships available.

  • Beginning Pottery Wheel, June 2 – 6, 9am to 12pm / Ages 12 – 19 / $85 / 13 students
    This class will focus on beginner and intermediate instruction on the potter’s wheel, providing proper techniques on throwing and glazing. Students will create cups, bowls, and plates. Projects will be kiln fired at the end of camp and available for pick-up the following week.

    Justine Luzwick is the instructor and is currently a Visual Arts teacher with Stokes County Schools.

  • Intro to Fiber Arts, June 2 – 6, 9am to 12pm / Ages 12 – 18 / $85 / 12 students
    Create your own original creature! Students will be introduced to multiple fiber arts techniques including spinning, weaving, crochet, hand stitching, and more. They will then combine their handmade samples with repurposed textiles, stuffings, and trims to create their own textile creature.

    Janeise Harmon is the instructor and is the Fiber Arts Coordinator for Stokes County Arts Council.

  • Handbuilding / Sculpture, June 9 – 13, 10am to 12pm / Ages 6 – 12 / $65 / 15 students
    This class will feature several projects using basic methods such as Coils, Slabs, Pinch Pots, as well as the addition of textures and glazes and other materials. Projects will be kiln fired at the end of
    camp and available for pick-up the following week.

    Merideth Van Meter is the instructor and is the Owner of His Promises Art Studio in King.

  • Theatre Camp, June 16 – 20, 9am to 12pm / Ages 10 – 19 / $75 / 25 students
    Campers will experience all facets of youth theatre, including acting technique, improvisation, set & costume design and connection with the audience. The camp will conclude with students performing a short theatre show on Friday.

    Kimberly Boles and Brook Smith are the instructors.

  • Visual Arts Camp, June 23 – July 27, 9am to 12pm / Ages 7 – 13 / $75 / 20 students
    If you want to sharpen your creative skills, explore new art tools, turn found objects into art, explore art themes and have some fun with other student artists, then this is the class for you! Join us for an exciting time of painting, printing, drawing, mixed media, games and more, as we explore the world around us.

    Instructor Lisa Atkins is currently a Visual Arts Teacher with Stokes County Schools.

  • Intro to Weaving, July 7 – 11, 9am to 12pm / Ages 12 – 18 / $85 / 12 students
    Learn to weave! We'll start with paper and advance to the floor loom. Along the way, we'll do circular weaving and beginner tapestry. Basic fundamentals and terminology will be covered and students will leave with a simple frame loom and multiple weavings to keep.Janeise Harmon is the instructor and is the Fiber Arts Coordinator for Stokes County Arts Council.
