2025 Stokes County Arts Council Scholarships
Scholarships Awarded at Student Art Extravaganza Reception
The Stokes County Arts Council awarded six college art scholarships on Sunday, April 13 as part of the Student Art Extravaganza Reception held at The Arts Place of Stokes venue in Danbury. The organization annually awards scholarships to graduating high school students who plan to major or minor in an arts related degree program at a two, or four year college, as well as students already attending a two or four year college in an arts degree program.
Samantha Bean was awarded a $1,500 scholarship and will attend Catawba College in the fall. She is a senior at West Stokes High School and is the daughter of Dawn Manning of Pinnacle.
Jack Freitag was awarded a $1,000 scholarship and will attend UNC Greensboro in the fall. He is a senior at Stokes Early College / Forsyth Technical Community College and the son of Scott and Debbie Freitag of Madison.
Flor Rodriguez was awarded a $1,000 scholarship and is currently attending UNC Charlotte. She is a Junior majoring in Art Education and the daughter of Miguel and Maria Rodriguez of Germanton.
Lee Bodenhamer was a awarded a $1,000 scholarship and is currently attending Appalachian State University. He is a Freshman majoring in Theatre Performance and the son of Jason and Melanie Bodenhamer.
Two students received YesYouCan Scholarship awards, a scholarship created by Melanie Oakley and Tara Schiphof, in memory of their mother and grandmother Lynne Oakley.
Kaylee DiJohn was awarded a $500 scholarship and will attend the University of Florida in the fall. She is a senior at Stokes Early College / Forsyth Technical Community College and the daughter of Michael and Angela DiJohn of Sandy Ridge.
Katelyn Shelton was awarded a $500 scholarship and will attend North Carolina State University in the fall. She is a senior at North Stokes High School and the daughter of Brandon and Melissa Shelton of Danbury.
Since 1975, the Stokes County Arts Council has successfully served Stokes County, North Carolina through the cultural arts and is honored to support all of these wonderful young adults in achieving their life-long dreams.
