Tyler Nail in Concert 7/24

Tyler Nail will be live in concert at The Arts Place of Stokes on July 24th, 2021. The show will begin at 7 PM. Tickets are $10 General Admission, $8 Stokes Arts Members and $2 for ages 18 and under.

Tyler Nail is a songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and performer. Nail often performs a raw one-man show, though he sometimes performs with a variety of band arrangements that push his particular brand of Americana into dark, gritty territory. Regardless of the band size, the consistent focus of a Tyler Nail show is the songs, the lyrics, and the voice.

Nail was born in Winston-Salem, NC. He started his music career as a drummer in various hometown rock bands until finally gravitating toward guitar and leading his own bands. He has independently produced and released several original recording projects (Winter to Winter, Feathers, Under Evergreens, Life Lessons) and a Levon Helm tribute album (When I Go Away), many of which were engineered entirely in his home studio in Rural Hall, NC.

Steve Hartsoe (Mostly) Acoustic Show 8/7

Steve Hartsoe honed his musical skills fronting one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s popular indie rock bands of the late 1980s and early ’90s, London Down, later renamed The Raging Marys. As a band member and later a solo artist, he shared the bill with such notable artists as Dan Vickrey (Counting Crows), The Smithereens, Chris Isaak, Mudhoney and Todd Rundgren.

Burned out and needing to move on to a “real job,” Hartsoe then devoted his energy to building a career as a journalist and raising a family, with the occasional coffeehouse gig.

Fast forward to 2014: Thanks to a Father’s Day gift of recording studio time that jump-started his music career, Hartsoe is again writing songs, recording and performing in around his current home near Raleigh, North Carolina. He’s also performing again with London Down, which recorded an album in Nashville in 2018 and has since released a live album, singles and is preparing to record an EP. Performing songs from throughout his career, with London Down plus some familiar covers. www.stevehartsoe.com
