Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer’s Stokes County residency wraps up with An Evening of Storytelling!
As storytellers, Cathy & Marcy bring forward their humor, wit and passion about the history of women in country music, their world travels, songs that have changed lives and anecdotes from 40 years of social music making together. They believe that telling stories and writing songs go hand in hand, the two crafts inform each other while offering different opportunities for detail and presentation.
Cathy & Marcy have inspired audiences through story and song for over 35 years. Known in the music world for their superb harmonies and instrumental virtuosity on acoustic & electric guitar, five-string banjo, mandolin, cello banjo, ukulele and more, they’ve earned two GRAMMY® Awards for their children’s music and an 11 additional GRAMMY® nominations for their folk and children’s music combined. Their shows have always included anecdotal stories, and a love of storytelling inspired them to offer new programs featuring tales both true and imaginary.
“A Cathy and Marcy storytelling show always includes a lot of heart, sharp wit, a huge variety of smiles, a goodly dose of old fashioned show-personship, an edge-of-your-seat narrative, and music – some of the most amazing music on any storytelling stage…They are in touch with the grown-up’s inner child, and they are in touch with the wisdom of the young.” – Andy Offut Irwin
